Ethical practices in the workplace include the safety and fair treatment of your employees, despite their gender, ethnicity, or religion.

Ethical practices don’t stop with the environment as you have an obligation to your employees to treat them equally. A company’s code of ethics protects the employees and employer from unethical treatment.

As an employer, you have to be ethically conscious of your workers. Your reputation will depend on your ethical practice. If you fall short of your ethical standards your reputation will fall too. No one wants to be in business with someone who does not understand and comply with basic human rights.

Employees and their working environment determine how efficiently they will work, if you have a poorly kept, workspace anything you produce will reflect onto this. Not only in the products but the workers as their mental health and environment will affect your business if you are not creating a positive and ethical environment.

When we think about our clothes, we don’t think about, the workers and how they are being exploited. As consumers, you don’t see what happens in the back scenes. Products made in Britain have a “Made in Britain” sign, which we assume are following ethical practices. However, many of these workers face hidden conditions we don’t see when we are purchasing the product. We just assume that it is made ethically right. But, that is not the case, factory workers in countries such as India and China are paid a fraction of what they work for.

Buying into fast fashion is buying into the low paid section, you are adding to the problem. • BIDBI only works with accredited factories promoting fair living wages.
• BIDBI promotes positive health and well-being for all its employees
• Ensure that we have improved employment conditions and compensate our employees appropriately.
• Provide a safe and healthy working environment.
• Respect employees’ human rights and personal rights.
• Provide support for our employees with regard to their health and wellbeing.
• Encourage a sense of social responsibility amongst managers and employees alike.
• Comply with the applicable UK and international laws and regulations relevant to activities.
